Software tends to grow in size over time as it adds features and receives improvements. This is also true for mobile games. In fact, the problem of large games is magnified on mobile devices.
Unlike PCs, mobile devices do not have as much storage space. Their internal storage cannot be upgraded and there is a limit to the amount of memory card storage that can be added. Eventually mobile device users will run out of space if they have large games installed.
Hearthstone was one of the mobile games that was guilty of an unrestricted growth in installed size. Many users have in fact complained on message boards. They have been asking why it is necessary to have the game take up gigabytes of storage space leaving no room for anything else.
To its credit, the publisher of Hearthstone, Blizzard, listened to the complaints of its players and went ahead and did something to resolve the issue. They were able to reduce the installed size of the game.
I don't know of any other mobile game publisher that has done the same thing. Granted, Blizzard was guilty of making Hearthstone grow so large in the first place.
Still, what counts is that they listened to their customers and they did something about their concerns. This shows that they care about their game and they care about their community. Now if only other publishers as well as mobile device manufacturers could pay attention to the storage needs of their users.
